You’ve got a new album in the pipeline—is that going to be going back to the roots or keeping to the more mature sound of recent times?
Mark Hoppus.
I think it’ll probably be the next step beyond the last Blink-182 record. I think we’ll always have a strong sense of melody and catchiness to our songs—but we also want to try new things, but still keep Blink-182 as it’s always been.
S.
Do you know when it’s going to come out?
MH.
Well as soon as we get back from this tour we are continuing recording. Our goal is to turn it into the label by the end of the year, but we’ll see how the recording goes. It could be sooner, or it could be a little later—but the most important thing to us is to write a record that we absolutely believe in.

Last night’s headliners, Kings of Leon, worked up a different kind of passion with their torrid southern rock and polished soul hooks. The band’s set spanned their whole catalog, with a stirring take on the Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind?” as a bonus. A seething, shimmering new track, “Pick-Up Truck,” fell right in with their large-scale recent songs. For all the affection the crowd showed for material from the first two albums, including the muscular “Mary,” the biggest cheers greeted the hits, 2008’s “Sex On Fire” and “Use Somebody.” Those anxious, searing songs led into a set-capping explosion of fireworks.

Reports in Rocksound suggest we may be looking at a new headliner.
It was tonight suggested that Guns N’ Roses have cancelled all of their upcoming appearances.
This obviously includes a string of UK shows, including an arena tour planned after their headlining set at Reading and Leeds.
A Tweet from Axl Rose’s official Twitter account read: “All upcoming Guns N’ Roses dates are officially cancelled. Please contact your place of purchase for any refunds.”
Like, seriously? Could anyone perhaps have predicted this? Does that leave Queens Of The Stone Age as headliners for Reading and Leeds?
Affected dates are below:

Story courtesy of Pitchfork:
They did it, folks—more people bought Arcade Fire’s third album, The Suburbs, than any other album in the United States last week. The news comes courtesy of their label, Merge, and label mates Spoon, who Tweeted, “Let the record reflect that Merge Records is the NUMBER ONE LABEL IN THE USA! Here’s to Arcade Fire and Merge: #1—156k copies sold.” This comes after news of the group triumphing over the UK album charts this week as well, according to Billboard.
This is the band’s first chart-topping album in the U.S. Their last LP, Neon Bible, debuted at number two. Independent rock music is pretty popular now, apparently!
